An event I would like to have at school would be an end of the year party. It would be the day before the last day of school. We could have cool music and party stuff. The party would have to be earned by having a 3.0 or higher. The letter grade must be higher than a C+. We could have punch and soda if the students do a good job at their work, the school could have a fund raiser for the party. This party would have to be during May 31st the day before school gets out for the summer. We could play our DS if it’s ok with Miss Jamie. We can have a video game competition at the party. If the students continue to be on behaving well we can have the party. We can also have a yearbook signing and sign other peoples’ yearbooks.

An event I would like to happen is an end of the school year party. There would be a water balloon fight and a day off of work and there would be cake and ice cream. And maybe a water slide if students have a good grade higher than a B. We should have soda and root beer. This would happen on May 31st on the day before school gets out for the summer.  Maybe we could go to the zoo on the 1st of June on the last day of school. We could have a party on the last day of May for fun. We could bring our Electronics if it’s ok with Jamie. Maybe students would work harder if we had this event.

A Field Trip I want to go to is Lagoon. I want to go on this field trip because it has fun rides and a pool. It has a new ride called
Bambora. I think the school should do this trip as an incentive for the students at the secondary level. This would be only for those students whose grades are no lower than a B, as well as having perfect attendance. The trip could be organized at the end of the school term.

This last Friday on 2-10-12 the high school had a special day called Cross Curricular Day. We were assigned to a class that was taught by two teachers from different classes. For example, the first half of the day I had Ms. Winder and Ms. Nichols and they taught us how to bake cookies. In the 2nd half I had Mr. Barry and Ms. Tessi and they taught us on how to act in a play. I thought it was a good day because we got a break from work and got to have fun.

Things coming to pass and in the past.

In my opinion the school dance was really great. If we have one next year I am definitely going. Of course there are people who might not agree with that, but just because you don’t like to dance or talk doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go. Just because its homecoming you don't have to go with a date. You can go Stag or Wall Flower.

Just because it was a dance doesn’t mean you have to dance. You could talk on the side to people. Or if you like to dance, but not socialize, just come and dance. They had slow dances for those who wanted them. They also had up-beat music, as well as group dances for those who wanted them. We had the Boot Scoot Boogie (don't start at the beginning, if you want to dance the next dance, it’s a very long song), the Limbo, Conga lines (a few throughout the dance), the Macarena, and a few others that I can't think of them at the moment because I don’t know what they're called. Those who went to the dance didn’t just dance.

They also had a few games; some of them are listed above. Oh, we also played the hula hoop game. You know the game where you get in a circle and hold hands, and without letting go of each other’s hands you have to go through the hula hoop. If the music stops when the hoop is on you or when you're half way through it, you're out. Those of you who didn’t go missed the hilarious experience of seeing Mrs. Jen trying to go through the hoop in a poofy dress.
She got half way through, when the music stopped. Alas, she was one of first to get out. It also got pretty funny when it got down to the last two people, usually a boy and a girl.

The food was really magnifique! You got a salad, some Spaghetti or Alfredo, depending on what you chose, some even had both, since they had extras of each. You also got a cookie. (Don't ask me what kind, all I know is, it was good) For drinks they had lemonade and, of course, water.
The masks they gave us for the masquerade were silver, one size fits all, sorts of things. Only a couple of people decided to wear them. I didn't wear mine; however, it will make a great memento or keepsake. They took  the pictures in the hallway. They were really nice; they had the boy kneeling on one knee and the girl in a chair. There was a chandelier in the background.  I heard about this later on, apparently some boys hadn't had the picture taken yet, so instead of not getting one, they decided to get a group shot of all of them standing and posing. I forgot to mention earlier, that there were balloons, not on a string. So those who got bored could play a quick game of "Don’t let the balloon touch the ground" or “Balloon Volleyball" by hitting the balloons over the streamers, like they were the net.

On november 1st. Temple Grandin came to our AMAZING school to have a lunch with the staff and inspire students. At the end of the day she answered questions in front of the entire highschool and elementary at an assembly. The questions were written by the students earlier in the week folowing the veiwing of the HBO film "Temple Grandin" and the best ones were chosen for her to answer. Ksl covered the story and and interviewed several students and the principal, the link to the story is here ------>http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=17905546

The student vs. staff basketball was on Wednesday October 12, 2011. Only the high school played against the teachers, so it was only the high school students who had to watch. They had refreshments out in the lobby. Some choose to get some, some choose to get seats on the stage. Those who didn't get a seat on the stage had to sit on benches on the side lines. A lot of students signed up and were eligible to play, so every 5 minutes they switched players. Both the students and teachers team did this.
At the end off the first group the score was Teachers: 6,  Students: 10!

At the end of the next rotation the score was Teachers: 6 Students: 14! yes!

At the end of the 3rd rotation it was Teachers:13,  Students: 14.

The score at the end of the 4th rotation was Teachers: 25 Students: 20.

Both teams got a short break during half time. During half time the Dance squad/team did a wonderful job! At the end of half time the teams switched sides. Instead of going to the other side they defended that side and went to their old side to score.

The 2nd half began Teachers 25 to Students 20.

At the end of the rotation the score was Teachers 29 to Students 29.

During the next rotation they students scored 10 points. The teachers scored 2 more points, which brings the score to Teachers 34  to Students 39.

At the end of the 2nd to last rotation the score was Teachers 43  to Students 48.

At the end of the last rotation the score was Students 48 to teachers 46 .

Good job High school students!

Thanks to your efforts it should be a homecoming to remember!

Things coming to pass and in the past.

The homecoming dance:

The dance is on October 14, which is a Friday. It starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:30. The dance is going to be in the gym. The theme is masquerade.

The school will provide the masks with the cost of the ticket, so you don't have to bring your own. If you want to find your own, you can-- Not Halloween masks, the half masks that just cover your eyes. ( the phantom of the opera mask) It’s going to be semi-formal-- Sunday best. You can get as fancy as you want to get as long as it is school appropriate.

There will be slow dances as well as fast. You may suggest music to the DJ but it must not have any suggestive words or music no swearing no drug reference. I suggest you listen to the lyrics before suggesting it. If you wouldn’t be comfortable letting your mom or dad/an adult listen to it chances are it wouldn’t be a good idea to suggest it. Nothing suggestive goes for dancing too.

The dance is not free. I repeat the dance is not free. The fee is 15 dollars for all, 15 dollars per person. The 15 dollars
covers entrance, pictures and food fees. The will be serving Italian food from Buca di Beppo. So don’t wear white. This dance is only for high school students only. Which is 9th grade through 11th grade. You will not be able to get tickets to the dance the day of so if you want to go get them before!

I am really excited about it, a home coming dance can be both a social event, a way for people to meet other people they might not otherwise meet or normally talk to.(also you can meet people that were invited to come by one of your peers.) It also can be really fun. That is as long as we don’t turn it into something else. How the dance turns out is up to you and the people
around you. I hope will be able to have one next year but that is based on 2 factors: what my fellow peers want next year and what happens at this homecoming. Hopefully it will be great!
