Hi, this is Skyler Nowak and this page I’m writing is about interests and my thoughts about mainly music. I will talk about things that make me mad about what people think and say about music. I will talk about what music I like. I will also talk about my opinions on singers and artists. Hopefully maybe you can agree with me and if not, well, you might have to deal with it, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
One thing that has been bothering me lately is people
complaining about the music of an artist called Serj Tankian. Serj Tankian is
the lead singer of Serj Tankian the band. Serj Tankian started out as a solo
project and later turned into a band. For you to understand why people are
complaining so much you need to know the history of Serj. Serj started a band
with Daron Malakian. There is a drummer and bass player but, I feel like these
two people are the most important to the story.
The band they
started was System of a Down or, for short, SOAD. First, I have to say I think
that SOAD was one of the best bands ever. Between Serj Tankian’s amazing ability
to sing unbelievably fast and Daron Malakian’s mastery of the guitar making him
40th best player in the world made an incredible band. The band was a
big popular band. They played metal and hard rock. In 2006 the band broke up
mostly because Serj announced that he was going to start a solo project playing
his own music. Daron and the rest of the band didn’t like that and decided to
start their own band call Scars on Broadway.
After that Serj
made an album called Elect the Dead and I think that it was an awesome album,
but in 2010 he released an album called in Imperfect Harmonies. That’s where
people are starting to complain about his music. His music started out more rock
in Elect the Dead but in Imperfect Harmonies it seems more techno and most of
the songs have the same beat or rhythm. Not only are people complaining about
the music type and beat but some people are saying “Serj doesn’t sound like
SOAD.” The thing is that when he said he was going to do rock in his solo
project not metal and since he was the lead singer of SOAD and in a lot of his
songs he was screaming his head off. I don’t think people don’t like the change
because apparently he has a great screaming voice but I don’t like screamo so I
wouldn’t know. People have to accept that he’s not in SOAD anymore and he’s
playing different music. I think that people need to stop complaining. I will
have to say I don’t like his new album either, but there are some good songs and
I think that SOAD shouldn’t have broken up. But now we have two great bands,
Scars on Broadway and Serj Tankian. So people need to accept that there is no
System of a Down. I’m sorry, but get over it.
